We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

As most of you will know my partner and Karen and Laura's brother lost his life to anxiety and depression. He fought for as long as he could, until he couldn't fight on any more.

Dave loved life when he was well. He loved his football, he loved the banter, he loved his mates, his family and colleagues and sadly mental illness took away his love for all of this.

As many of you will know earlier this year we organised a charity football match for Dave and raised over £2000 for CALM!!!

Since Dave's death I have joined a local boot camp ran by elite fitness and physique. Mark Dent, personal trainer for elite fitness and physique set this business up in order to bring 2 of his big passions together, men's mental health and fitness. This group have been amazing in supporting me and each and everyone of us that attends every week has their own reasons for increasing their fitness and combatting their personal struggles. We are a fab team and we will be supporting each other all the way - including picking me up when I continue to fall flat on my face 😂🙈

So this is why we are taking part in Rough runner!! It is a chance to raise some more funds for CALM and take part in a fun activity and have lots of laughs along the way!! (Mainly at my expense as I am going to be be rubbish!! 😂).
