Founded in 1961, Kidney Research UK is the leading UK charity dedicated to funding research aimed at finding better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for kidney disease.

They have over £10m invested in research at any one time awarding grants to doctors, nurses and researchers across the UK.  They also award grants to kidney patients so that they can cope with the unexpected costs of their condition and campaign for better patient access to renal services. Kidney Research UK has an ongoing commitment to research, funding around 90 projects across the country.  These projects last on average 2 to 3 years.

The lives of over 3m people in the UK today are under threat from chronic kidney disease and this number is expected to grow.  Currently only 1 in 4 receive the transplant they need.
