My name is Abi May. I have outlived both of my two children, Pax and Catherine. You can read about them, and about my journey through heartbreak, loss and survival here https://www.avalleyjournal.co.uk
27th May 2017 was Pax's 35th anniversary (of death). 19th June would have been Catherine's 37th birthday celebration. And on 21 June I am turning 60.
I have wondered how to survive what seems to be a very sad landmark, and have decided to walk for 60 kms to reflect on my life. The challenge is not really the 60 kms but the past years and then rest of my life.
During some of my darkest moments, when the sorrow was so deep I was drown, the Samaritans have been there to listen, and just the act of an anonymous stranger listening to me helped more than I can express.
So that's the reason why Samaritans is my designated charity for this walk.
