Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have set this page up in memory of my mother, Louisa Mailoff (aka Louisa Navarre).
Louisa had a wonderful life in her early years and was part of the 'Terry's Juvenilles' dance group in her early teens. She joined my father in "The Navarre Dancers" Adagio and fan dancing acts throughout the 1930-50's and played to hundreds of audiences in theatres throughout Great Britain and was invited to perform for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the late Queen Mother) in the Royal Variety Show at the London Coliseum in 1945. She, along with my father, retired from variety theatre life in 1957 and the latter years saw her settle in to "normal" married/working life until she retired.
Sadly, she battled with Alzheimer's for the last 10 years and finally passed away on 30.09.2010. This is such an awful disease and for anyone who has parents or other relatives going through it, will know what I mean. It strips them of their dignity by taking away their capability to do anything for themselves. It leaves your loved one as a shell of their former self, helpless and totally reliant on those around them. My mother had wonderful care home staff around her who took really good care of her and of course, a big thanks to my sister Louise, for always being there for her throughout all of this and towards the very end. I will be forever indebted to my sister as I live abroad.
Please take time to visit www.alzheimers.org.uk website and learn how you can make a difference by donating even the smallest amount to help fund research in to this horrible disease. You can donate here also in honour of my mother. Thank you, Abigail xxx
