Story

Ollie was born on the 18.4.2018. Ollie was born with a congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus with a severely leaky truncal valve. In order to live this meant He needed open heart surgery to close a vsd and put in a conduit. Ollie had his 1st surgery on 18.6.2018 at 8 weeks old. The surgery was successful but only half completed as they couldn’t do the truncal valve repair as was too small. Ollie came out of surgery and on to picu after roughly 10 hours where he suffered a cardiac arrest it took the doctors 15 minutes to fetch him back. We finally went home on the 29.6.2018. In October 2018 we got the news ollie we need to go back for his second open heart surgery soon so on the 28.2.19 he went back to try and repair his truncal valve as the surgeon said he didn’t want to have to put me in a mechanical valve as it meant at 11 moths old He would be left with Been on warfarin for life. The repair on ollies valve was unsuccessful so he had no choice to put in a mechanical one and also replaced the conduit for a bigger one. Surgery was a long 15 hours but was a success but unfortunately Ollie suffered a stroke and it has effected the left side of his body.. Ollie is doing brill and is getting better day by day. We would like to express how grateful we are for Ollie surgeon Dr osama Jaber and his team for changing Ollie last life. All the staff on picu and ward 51 are amazing and deserve our upmost respect and applause.
