We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As I am getting older I am very much aware that I need to get off my well proportioned but largeish butt and do something that may just make a difference. Please help me support Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Wickes have organised this bike challenge for a team of 22 and are also helping pay for me to do the trip.

For my part I have bought a bike and am putting in the remainder of the funds , as well as actually doing the trip.

Here it is then.In September. As a team we will be cycling from Shigatse in Tibet, up to Everest base camp, then on to Kathmandu in Nepal.

This challenge will be done over 8 days and is 500km long.

There are 4 main passes over 5000m high with the highest one being 5253m.

The oxygen levels are about 40% that of sea level.

With temperatures ranging from -20 to the heady heights of +15 celcius.

All these sport adventure type trips get graded and surprise surprise this one is the only one that is 10/10 for difficulty.

There is however a bonus near the end, with the longest downhill decent in the world.

Training is now well underway with a little help from Paul White who is an expert in all things that begin with “Ad” and finish with “venture” or should it just be “pain”. Thanks Paul.
