Story
Right, I will be dragging my clinically obese carcass around the Jane Tomlinson 10k Run in Hull on May 23.
I have signed up with 15 colleagues and we will hopefully be raising quite a lot of money for numerous good causes.
I have decided to try and raise £350 for Help for Heroes...if I get more, obviously that would be great.
Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country.
I thought with Luke being in the service of Her Majesty, it was a charity close to home.
Also, I figured now would be a good time to try and cajole you all into digging deep as I have just started my training.
I know it sounds a bit daft considering it is only six miles, but I am quite literally starting from scratch. I have not covered more than 200-metres at pace since desperately trying to get out of the cross-country when 15-years-old.
Also, I tend to sit behind a desk for a lot of the day and currently weigh in at 20-stone so there is a lot of me to haul round the city streets. (Pleading over)
I've got my training programme on the wall, and I've even been getting messages of encouragement from Jo, who has said she will join me on some of the runs.
I realise that £350 may be a bit adventurous for a 10k run, but I thought I'd give it a shot! I just hope enough people like me to make some contributions and save me looking like a berk! It is only 3.5 pence per metre after all.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So any help you can be would be greatly appreciated!
Wish me luck on the mean streets of west Hull, I will be pounding the concrete for the next three months.
Adam
