Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am looking forward to taking part and completing my second triathlon on 1st August in , believe it or not my Father’s Day gift from Oliver and Eleanore! I am hoping to improve on my time of 56 minutes 44 seconds which I did at Blenheim back in June. I am hoping to raise some money for The Sick Children’s Trust as they helped myself and Charlotte out during our time at Great Ormond Street Hospital. My son Oliver, who was born on 14th April 2006 was diagnosed with Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID) at just 13 weeks old and the only cure was a bone marrow transplant, which thankfully he received at 6 months old. Oliver suffered with pretty horrible side effects from the transplant and medication he was on. During this time I was commuting to the hospital, to work and home everyday, which became very difficult. Unfortunately Oliver ended up in intensive care due to a very nasty infection and It was at this time that we were introduced to the Manger of the Guilford Street house of the Trust who gave us a home from home bedroom that was only a five minute walk (1 minute run!) away. This was given to us at a crusial time and meant that I could stay by my little boys side when he needed me most. I will be forever grateful to The Sick Children's Trust for all they did for me and my family.
