We support children/families/practitioners to help the world feel safer for children

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of my dad, Derrick Griffiths, AKA Granddad.

Granddad was very proud of the work that I was doing with my charity, Adenydd, supporting children, families and schools. He saw first hand how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) continue to affect a child, even into adulthood, and what a difference the right support can make.

We would like to fund the development of an online training programme for parents and carers on sensory regulation. Children who have experienced neglect, abuse and/or trauma often have great difficulty in regulating/managing their emotions and behaviour due to sensory issues. This can put a huge strain on families and schools. Working at a sensory level really helps but there is limited understanding of this in Wales. Developing an online course would mean that the charity could support many more parents and carers to help their children to manage the challenges they face on a daily basis. Family meant everything to Granddad so this would be a legacy he would be proud of.

We are a small charity based in Swansea, in South Wales supporting children and families affected by ACEs and developmental trauma. We work with schools, services and families (whether adopters, foster carers or birth families). For more information please see our website www.adenydd.org.
