Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the London Marathon in memory of my amazing father. I want to support Marie Curie as they provided such wonderful support to my Mother and Father during his last days when he was suffering with lung cancer. They provided such loving and sensitive support - providing relief for my Mother and comfort for my Father, coming in frequently in those last few weeks. They were a ray of sunshine during those often rather dark days. They enabled my parents to maintain their dignity and to still smile and enjoy each other - we cannot say how thankful we are for their care.

On the day my dad died I ran out into the Herefordshire countryside and ran up a steep hill just behind my parents house. I ran so fast it was hard to catch my breath - I did this to remember how much my dad struggled for breath in those last days. It seems appropriate that I should run the London Marathon - to exert my lungs for a cause that is so close to our families heart.

Thank-you for your support that will enable other familes to be helped and supported the same way we were.
