Story

Update: I successfully completed the walk on the 29th April without so much as a blister! If you'd like to read about the whole walk there are many posts on blog, and I have also written a book following the event. Click here to find out more...

407.34 kilometers

Total walking time was 96 hours 22 minutes and 22 seconds.

 Burned 29776 calories

Average speed was 4.23 kilmoeters per hour

In February of 2011 I walked from the Orzola in the North of Lanzarote to the Playa Blanca lighthouse in the South. At the time I said "never again", but as time has passed I've come round to the idea of setting myself a new challenge.

(Desplácese hacia abajo para el español)

Here it is: In the spring of 2012 I intend to walk down, across or up the Siete Islas - the seven main islands that make up the Canary Islands. It's a little more ambitious; as opposed to the 73km of Lanzarote I estimate this to be 400 to 500km.

Raising the money for the charities I worked with on the previous walk was one of the most satisfying things I have ever done, and I actually enjoyed the walk. I simply couldn't resist doing it again!

The Charities

Niños Tercer del Mundo - based here on the island and raising money for children in the third world. They are currently funding a new medical centre in Kenya.

The Rose Road Centre in Southampton who provided a wide range of services to severely disabled children and their families.

Both are VERY worthy causes, and I am proud to be associated with them.

(You'll see from this page that donations will go to Rose Road initially. Rose Road will donate 50% of the monies raised via this page to Niños Tercer del Mundo once collected)

Special thanks to;

David White the MD of AxiaFX who has kindly offered to fund my expenses.

Mitch Mitchell, Lanzarote's favourite Personal Trainer, who is helping me prepare.
