Story
We are raising money for St Elizabeth’s, who provide education, care and medical support for people of all ages with epilepsy and other complex needs.
St Elizabeth’s is where Luke (Richard’s son; Al’s godson) has been living since 2015.
The difference that it has made to everyone has been life changing.
Here is why it matters enough to us to ride our bikes for 200 miles from Whitehaven to Scarborough to help raise awareness and money.
“The care Luke receives at St. Elizabeth’s has been life changing both for us as a family but more importantly for Luke. He has changed so much since he has attended college. He is more confident, independent and has a full and active life. Luke lives with severe complex epilepsy. This (along with his learning difficulties) affects every area of his life. Every activity he does needs to be adapted and monitored to keep him safe and this was extremely difficult to do in a home setting.
At St Elizabeth’s as well as his college courses, he regularly goes out with his friends, plays football locally, manages his own finances and shopping and lives a life much like that of any other young man his age. As a family it is amazing to see him so happy and safe, we can finally enjoy our time with him without the constant pressure of managing his seizures. He now calls St Elizabeth’s 'home' which says it all.”
