Story
Hi Guys,
Help me to sponsor Getkidsgoing!, a National charity which gives disabled children and young people - up to the age of 26 yrs - the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport.
I reckon this a fantastic way to fundraise while enjoying my training for the London Marathon. I am aiming to raise £2,000 which is the cost of a lightweight manual wheelchair.
My motto is "By asking for the impossible, obtain the best possible!!", so please do your best to contribute, even a small contribution would be very appreciated!
I have just started my training and I have to say it's tough, but I am committed to run in less than 4 hours..not sure how I will do it but again "By asking for the impossible, obtain the best possible!!".
I will keep you posted on how it is progressing. As you can see, I have attached a picture of the Road Runner, my inspirer in these dark evenings of trainings around Regent's Park but I promise I will add more photos.
18th Feb: I am well into my fifth week of training, It is getting better and better..I have knocked down by two minutes my 10k PB. If, during the marathon, I can run each 6 miles in 55 minutes I should be able to run confortably under 4 hours which would be a good result...I am bit worried of what will happen after the 30th km..I hope I won't be facing the WALL!! Getting three tablets a day for my joints and it works, no pain at all!!
26th Jan: today a good session, 6 miles steady, I have run in 50'52'', 828 cal, best pace 4'15'' per km, feeling definitely better and I am starting to cope well with the pain..I am running with no music support..this might help on the day of the race. Tomorrow it is going to be easier, 8 reps x 40 secs uphill fast and then a 20min steady run.
I cooked for my family lamb with baked potatoes and vegetables.

The outcome was just perfect!!!! I love cooking because it is an act of love! I love "feeding"!
Tomorrow early at work! ciao
24th Jan: I managed to run 9 miles in 1h 21', though it was tough! Last two miles my legs were a bit stiff but I am glad I have completed the first week of training. Tomorrow it is rest day!!
23rd January, 2010: today 5 km, I managed in 24'39'', far from my good old days but far from my ideal IMC....tomorrow I have to run 9 miles aiming for 1h16min...let's see how it goes...my legs are absolutely fine ...is my belly which is cumbersome!!
Tasso thank you for your donation!!! spread the word!!
Today, 21st Jan, is day4, I will run 5 miles after a fartlek last night, my legs are recovering well and I have already lost 2 kilos...
.......
21st Jan eve update: I run 5 miles as promised in 45', a slow pace, but it is important to get into this routine!
At home I had a bath of cold water with ice to facilitate my recovery.. feeling well, for dinner rice with pumpkin and grilled red chicory and sparkling water.
It is now, 11 57 p.m. Elena, my little daughter is sleeping innocently, time to go to bed.
Ciao - Arrivederci a domani, see you later!
keep 'n touch!
Alessandro
