The York Jailbreak Challenge requires getting as far as possible from the university without spending any money. This is normally done in 36 hours, however at York this has been restricted to just 30.

In order to make this even more interesting, we are proposing a twist to sponsorship. Instead of sponsoring a fixed amount, we propose giving an amount per distance travelled (e.g. 1p per mile). However, we don't want people giving more/less than they are comfortable with, so in the case that we somehow either end up somewhere ridiculously far or only reach The Shambles in York, you can give more/less if you like. To do this, donate a fixed amount and say in the message how much you'd like to donate per distance travelled. Then at the end, we will post an update to say how far we've got and then you can donate the remaining amount.

All money raised will go to Kidscan, a brilliant charity doing incredible work to support new and improved treatments for children with cancer. The tragic fact is that every year 1 in 500 children in the UK is diagnosed with cancer before the age of 14 and, even more tragically, 25% of these children won't make it to their 30th birthday. By funding ground breaking research, the charity enables the development of treatments which are less damaging to children's bodies, whilst retaining the effectiveness of many current treatments. We are proud to be supporting such an excellent cause.
