Mount Kilimanjaro Trek 2020 · 11 September 2020

WellChild is the national charity for seriously ill children. Thousands of children live with complex medical needs. Many spend months, or years in hospital because there is no support enabling them to leave. We exist to give these children the best chance to thrive: at home, with their families.

Covid has sadly pushed the Kilimanjaro challenge back again, so this year I have decided to take on the 36 hour 3 peaks challenge instead with my partner Paul. 

Hi all, I am Alex a WellChild paediatric Long Term Ventilation clinical nurse specialist at St George’s hospital. Myself and my boyfriend will be taking on the challenge to climb 3 of UK's biggest peaks in just 36 hours! This includes Snowdon, Scarfel pike and Ben Nevis. So please help us raise funds for the incredible WellChild charity as we take on this challenge of a life time.

Being a WellChild nurse I am able to see  first hand how the support that WellChild offers, helps families and children. WellChild nurses play a crucial role in enabling children to be discharged from hospital and be cared for safely at home. WellChild nurses provide practical and emotional support to children and their families to ensure that children with complex needs can remain at home where possible. 
The charity also offers amazing support to families through their family tree network and also their helping hands project. 

Please support us to reach our fundraising target and raise funds for WellChild so that they can continue to fund more roles like mine to continue to support children, young people and families.
