Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money through two events this year..the first I am going to be sorting the Movember look. Many of you will know this isn't a good look for me and if I am totally honest it's probably the first year I am confidently been able to grow a moustache. Let's hope it's the last!
My second fundraising event is running the London Marathon 2019.
For those of you who don't know me on a personal level, just to confirm...I absolutely hate running.
Setting myself up with the challenge of running the London Marathon, is my biggest challenge to date. I was lucky to be provided a place in the marathon with an outstanding charity fund.
Ron Pickering OBE was one of British sport’s great visionaries. He was a former Physical Education teacher and national athletics coach, training Lynn Davies to Tokyo Olympic gold. Ron is best remembered as the voice of athletics on BBC commentaries and iconic programmes such as Superstars. He was awarded the OBE by the Queen in 1986 for services to sport.
When he died unexpectedly in 1991, his wife Jean, herself an Olympic medallist from the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, and children Kim and Shaun set up the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund to help young British athletes fulfil their potential.
Since then, supported by the Trustees and a network of volunteers, the fund has raised and awarded over £2.0 million in small but significant grants to several thousand talented young British athletes.
I appreciate any donation, big or small in supporting me to achieve my target.
