Story

Don't get me wrong, I hate asking people for money for fundraising. I will only donate to someone's cause when I think they are really doing something challenging, that takes a lot of effort and dedication or an event that really puts them out of their comfort zone.

So here I am, running a half marathon!

MADNESS.

Admittedly, it's been on my bucket list since I was a child, but little 10 year old Alice did not ever quite realise how bloody hard running 13.1 miles is!

One morning in January as my alarm went off and I did the usual trawl through social media, I noticed that the registration had opened for the Plymouth Half Marathon, and hey, in my sleepy naive state, I thought "why not? I've got 4 months to train and it will be great to raise some money and really challenge myself before I turn 25!"

So here I am, still in quite some disbelief that I've put myself up for it, but training week in week out regardless so that I can drag my rather hefty backside around what seems like a near-impossible number of miles.

I am not a runner.

I have come to the realisation that actually, I don't even like running that much.

But HEY, this wouldn't be a challenge worthy of your sponsorship if it was a song and dance in the park! (though that does sound far more appealing!)

Therefore, if you donate some of your hard earned cash to this supremely worthy charity, I promise I will run, jog, (and possibly also power walk, but only up the really steep hilly bits...) all 13.1 miles on the 23 April 2017.

Plus, if you sponsor me, I actually do have to get out there and do this. Do this for everyone that has ever needed the amazing support Macmillan provide, or anyone that may need it in the future.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement so far, and if you're free and willing, I'd absolutely LOVE you to come and cheer me on in Plymouth at 8.30am on Sunday 23 April (I'll be the tomato face in the green t-shirt). We'll also *hopefully* be in our new house by then, so you're all welcome for tea (or champagne...y'know) and some hideously calorific homemade cake after I'm done!
