“It’s benign, it will probably just go away by itself…” said my GP in August 2019 about the lump that I had discovered in my right breast. No history of breast cancer in the family and under 30? Nah, can’t be cancer! Thankfully I ignored my GP’s advice and pushed to get a referral to see a specialist. The next working day I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Grade 2 breast cancer.

I wasn’t checking myself regularly/ at all and to be honest had no idea how to even go about it. I stumbled across my ‘lump’ accidentally one day.

Coppafeel is the organisation which I wish I had known about sooner. Like many young people I had no awareness or education on breast cancer, and wrongly assumed it was something I could start worrying about 20+ years down the line.

Luckily for me, I was pro-active with my accidental find and was determined to get a proper diagnosis. Now I want to help empower more young people with the right education so that people don't just walk away ,as I could have easily done, when they hear the positive words 'its nothing to worry about' from their doctor.

CoppaFeel! exists to help everyone stand the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer, spreading awareness and educating young people on all things boobs. Early detection and diagnosis makes treating breast cancer easier and can literally save lives!

I will be part of an amazing team participating in Come Fly with Gi Trek in aid of CoppaFeel! Unfortunately due to the chaos of the last 18months, we're no longer trekking in the Sahara but staying on British soil and heading to the Scottish Highlands! I'm swapping sunshine and sand for midges and mountains!
