Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·
Less than 3weeks & 7miles in training, we would love some more sponsors to reach our target. It's not easy but it will be more than worth it!
MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we are very grateful for you support & generosity!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I was seven I was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia (this is an auto immune disease which causes your bone marrow to stop making blood cells), there is no medical explanation as to what causes the disease, it is very rare & hard to treat. The best and most successful (if possible) is a Bone Marrow Transplant; however this is only possible if a donnor is found with a matching tissue type. This is sometimes very difficult and other treatments are then used to help the bone-marrow work properly again.
A bone marrow match was never found for me and therefore I received a series of treatments, some of which made me very ill. I believe that without the continuing support of our family, friends and health proffessionals that I wouldn't be where I am today. I have been in remission for over a decade and feel so lucky to live the healthy & happy life that I have been blessed with.
Therefore I wanted to run to say a massive thank you! Thank you to all the nurses, doctors and other health proffessionals that helped me & my family get through the tough days, thank you to the immense support from our family and friends, and finally to everyone who supported our campaign and believed in what my parents were trying to achieve by raising awareness of the bone marrow register.
I now want to give as much as I can to help those who have not been as fortunate as I have, and to their family and loved ones. Any money raised will be donated to The Aplastic Anemia Trust to fund research into finding a cure & to support patients all over the UK and their families.
Please spread awareness of Aplastic Anemia and consider joining the bone marrow register- you can save a life by such a simple procedure.
Almost half way to my JustGiving target! Wow massive thanks to everyone who has supported me so far :)
