Myself (Alicia),  Dave (my husband), Iain (my brother) and our friend Abbie will be jumping out of the blue skies above Jersey in order to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at the General Hospital.  Our skydive is being organised through Skydive Jersey and will take place on Sunday 20th October 2013.  We will be landing on the beach adjacent to the Gunsite Slipway in St. Aubins Bay.  Please feel free to come and watch us jump out of the plane!!

When we found out we were expecting a baby, we couldn't have been happier.  There was so much to prepare and plan!  When you're pregnant you are given so much advice and told so many different stories, for most women they follow the same pattern; nine months of pregnancy, delivery and then home to become a family.

Unfortunately though there are some of us that don't have that experience.  My pregancy wasn't the easiest but we stayed positive.  I went into labour at 31 weeks, unexpectedly!  Everything moved quickly and we realised that whilst our son, Will, who weighed 3lb 3oz was alive, he needed help and support.

The reason Will is where he is today is due to the dedicated staff in SCBU, Will stayed in their care for just under ten weeks.  There were good and bad times, but without SCBU I'm not sure he'd be with us today.  We are doing this skydive to raise money and show our gratitude, there are many babies that will need the support of SCBU and we know from our experience that the machines they need are highly expensive but necessary.

Please show your support, it will be gratefully received.  Thank you.
