UPDATE - 21-06-2011:
Many many thanks again for your support, words of encouragement, or simply thoughts!
I completed the race and I'm still alive. It took me 44m:22s - swim, 3h:35m:37s - bike and 2h:11m:16s - run for a total of 6h:41m:43s. That placed me 668 out of 1235 participants with around 120 DNF-ing ...
On 19th of June, I will take part in one of the most gruelling races in the UK Triathlon calendar, the UK Ironman 70.3. The race will take place at Wimbleball Lake, part of the beautiful Exmoor National Park. As with any 70.3 race, I will need to go through a 1.9K swim, followed by a 90K bike ride and will finish with a half marathon. The bike course is particularly challenging though, as it is said to include 52 hills in 56 miles.
For that bit of extra-motivation and to get an edge over my competitors, I've decided to get sponsored and since I am into multi-sports I thought I might as well go for a multi-charity: The Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles will distribute the money raised among charities including Children’s Hospices, Cancer Charities, Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes, and Childrens Life Education.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
