Story

This summer I'm getting on my bike in memory of my best pal and cycling buddy, Jennie Foley, who passed away in May 2021, following a year's battle against cancer.

I'm taking part in a 200 mile tour around the Normandy coastline in September, with a group of previous "Celtic Challenge" cyclists and raising funds for St. Columba's Hospice Care in Edinburgh.  St. Columba's looked after Jennie's Mum in her final days and together, we had taken part in three previous Celtic Challenges for the hospice, following a route from Edinburgh to Iona.

As a bit of "warm up", I'm cycling the length of France (1,000km) over a week in July, starting in Ouistreham and winding our way down to the Mediterranean coast.  Further than I've ever cycled but hopefully the memory of the strength and courage that Jennie showed during her illness will get me through :-)

I'd be really grateful for any donations that people are able to make to help keep my legs spinning.

All donations will go to St.Columba’s Hospice Care, which provides palliative and end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. They are an independent charity at the heart of their local community and have been offering free, flexible and person-centred care and support to their patients and their families for over 40 years. You can find out more about all of their services and the work that they're doing across Edinburgh and the Lothians by visiting www.stcolumbashospice.org.uk.
