In memory of William Furlong
We are Rainbows Hospice, our mission is to support the children that need us most

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 8 June 2014, my little man took his last breath at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, just three weeks before his 4th birthday.

At 6 months old William was diagnosed with a rare and life limiting brain condition.  At the time of his diagnosis I was so afraid and had no idea how we would cope as a family, and whether I was capable of being the mummy William needed me to be. But cope we did, with lots of support from family, friends and the hospice.

William himself was a massive inspiration to me when I found life overwhelming and difficult.  He had a huge personality, and battled through so many changes in his little life, and I was right by his side every step of the way.

Now he is no longer here with us, but he hasn't stopped inspiring me for one second.  I made a promise to the little dude that I would honour his memory, and continue to challenge myself, and be a better person.  So, on the 7 June, the day before the first anniversary of his death, I will be running my first half marathon.

I'm not a runner - and never have been, so starting from the absolute beginning at 40 years old isn't easy for me, but as I progress through my training, when my legs start to ache, and I wonder if I can really do this, I picture my little man and I know what he would be saying me to me.

"Come on Mummy!  You can do this!"

If you are able to support me in this challenge, it will mean other families across the East Midlands can continue to receive the support they so desperately need.
