Epilepsy Action is creating a world without limits for everyone affected by epilepsy, connecting people with others, and providing support and information you can trust. We’re calling out the misunderstanding, prejudice and barriers that stop people with epilepsy living their best life.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

One day I asked my husband "Why do you love me?" to which he promptly replied "Because you run around after me." I know...it's the stuff that great romance novels are made of, but considering he is a ten times marathon runner, you can see where he is coming from! Indeed I have spent a number of years dedicating weekends to his long distance training runs armed with supplies of refreshments to keep him going for another few miles. Never a runner, and claiming like most that I could never run the length of myself, I soon began to give it a go, and for the last few years have clocked up a number of 10K races to my name, but never having the belief that I could go any further...until now. In my wisdom I have decided to give the Lisburn Half Marathon a go, and this time I will not just be running after Paul but probably another few hundred other people as well!!!

I have decided to support Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland, with all monies raised being spent in Northern Ireland. This is the only epilespy organisation in Northern Ireland providing advice, information and support to people with epilepsy or anyone with an interest in the condition. Epilepsy Action provide funding for specialist nurses in the field of epilepsy management and work alongside patients and neurologists, both at home and in health care environments.

Epilepsy Action aim to:

  • Bring about permanent change for the social and medical benefit of people with epilepsy.
  • Promote all types of research into epilepsy and undertake non-laboratory social and medical research into epilepsy.
  • Engage with the Education, Healthcare and Social Care sectors to ensure that epilepsy is fully understood and the needs of people with epilepsy are supported.

This is a cause that is very dear to my heart and I hope you will agree.
