Ali Gould 50th Birthday Challenge (Inc London Marathon)

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for the many donations for the running challenges I’m doing over the next 6 months. I have been overwhelmed with the generosity with my initial £1000 target achieved within 24 hours.
To Mark the grim prospect of being 50 this year I’ve decided to get off my backside and do a series of running events/challenges to raise money for a charity which is close to my heart.
In the picture with me is my nephew Harry who is our little warrior. Harry was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) in October 2020.
JDM is a rare autoimmune condition, which affects his muscles and skin. Harry’s diagnosis came after a couple of months of feeling under the weather, with increasing tiredness and a small rash on his face.
JDM can be difficult to diagnose but we were fortunate enough to be seen by a general paediatrician who had treated one other case.
Harry was seen by Great Ormand Street Hospital within days and admitted to the hospital. He was treated there for 4 weeks, enduring multiple tests to confirm diagnosis, treatment and an intensive physiotherapy rehabilitation program to repair the damage to his muscles.
Harry was remarkable throughout and we are so proud of how brave and determined he has been to get better. Harry’s condition cannot be cured and the best outcome is that he will go into remission within the next 2 to 3 years without any further flare ups but the future is uncertain.
So I am raising money for much needed research into JDM for a small but absolutely vital charity who provide support for this condition called Myositis Uk and ReMission.
Please donate if you can to this great cause as the more research that is funded the more chance there is of finding a cure for Harry and other children with JDM
