Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Sadly at the age of 4, I lost my Papa to diabetes, he was only 44. He had diabetes for only 6 years before it killed him. He hated the disease and never understood why he had to live with it. My Mama tells me that my papa needed more support from people who knew about diabetes, but he couldn't get it. He wasn't allowed help until he looked after himself better, but he couldn't look after himself better because he didn't understand it and was in denial. Money to help people, as well as to find out more about diabetes is needed desperately to save lives.
My half sister was only 11 when she was told she had diabetes and my best friend who is also 11, was diagnosed 2 years ago aged just 9.
Right now people living with diabetes will have to live with it for the rest of their lives. It effects everything they do and their lives will never be the same. Maybe with more research Diabetes UK can prevent diabetes and hopefully find a cure for people who suffer.
My mama said living with my papa and his diabetes was very hard and she also needed support that wasn't there, maybe if I can raise some money Diabetes UK can do more for people like my Mama before it's too late.
Lastly there is the families who are left behind, the families that are destroyed because someone died from this disease. I don't want other girls and boys to lose their mum, dad, brother or sister like I have. I miss my Papa every day and that's why I want to raise money to help other families before they go through what I had to.
Please help me achieve this. It's been 7 years without my Papa and I am now old enough to start making a difference.
