Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and for your interest in Hamerton Church.

The earliest known reference to a Church in Hamerton dates back to 1103. We can’t claim our Church building is quite that old, but certainly the porch windows date from the 13th Century, so there has been a Church on this site for a very long time.

Our Church is full of lots of wonderful things to see. we have medieval angels in the roof, a host of gargoyles and grotesques and some lovely carved angels on the seats in the choir.

Unfortunately the Church has suffered damage from water ingress. A large programme of works is needed to make the Church wind and water tight after which the internal redecorations can begin.

The cost could be considered overwhelming, but we Hamertonians love our Church and are determined to raise the funds so that it can be enjoyed for future generations.

Any financial help you can give would be much appreciated.
