Story
Hello and welcome…
The reason:
As many of you may know, my parents both sadly passed away from cancer when I was a young age. During their last months and years, the St John’s Hospice, run by Sue Ryder, were an absolutely fantastic support to both my parents, but also my brother and I. Despite being a hospice; it feels anything but one. A relaxing and caring place to be, to give amazing, resting care to those in need. The setting is one that provides friendly faces as well as the best support at the most testing of times. Even years on, St John’s holds a special place in my heart and forever will.
The challenge:
After a few years of a fitness hiatus, I’ve set myself the challenge of: The London Marathon, The Ride London and the Serpentine Swim, together making up the London classics of 2023. All presenting their unique challenges and tests, it’ll get rid of my lazy days and hopefully a bit of a target; all whilst raising some crucially important funds.
London Marathon - Sunday April 23rd
Ride London - Sunday May 28th
Serpentine Swim - September 16th
The Ask:
St John’s Hospice, and all of the Sue Ryder support network relies on donations every year to keep offering the world class support that it does. I know that the cost of living is giving challenges for everyone, particularly those less fortunate than others, however imagine the added stress of a loved one needing care in their final weeks and months. If you can spare any money; however big or small then please please do so.
I’ll do my very best to document all three events, some I’m sure will keep some training updates too. I’m on Strava (if you’re really keen to watch me suffer) and will try and post some updates on here too.
There’ll also be some extra options of raffles and auctions, a quiz night and other little events along the way, with all proceeds being added to the total, which if you’d like to get involved with then please do drop me a message or get in touch!
Stay tuned… and if you’re still reading this then well done you, now go ahead and hit the donate button below if you’d be so kind…
