Story

I am running in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon this year in the memory of my cousin’s daughter Izzy with the aim to raise money for the Isabella Darmoo Brighter Future Fund and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Last summer my cousin's daughter, Izzy, sadly passed away just before her 4th birthday after a two and a half year battle with Leukaemia. Izzy suffered a lot during her short life and her loss was devastating to the whole family, but even more devastating is the knowledge that today there are hundreds of children just like Izzy – some will survive…many more will not. Now you can make a difference by donating to this cause.

Izzy was a patient at GOSH and since she passed away the Isabella Darmoo Brighter Future fund was set up to raise money for research into a new treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL).  This treatment harnesses the power of the immune system to seek out and destroy new cancer cells. The new technique could have fewer and much less severe side effects than chemotherapy and radiotherapy and the team hope that as well as treating the cancer, it could stop it from coming back. This research project will test the safety and effectiveness of this new technique in a clinical trial at GOSH. If successful, this work could bring about a new era of cancer treatments to help bring forward the day when ALL is beaten once and for all.

Now I am trying to raise much needed funds for this good cause by attempting to run the Chicago Marathon on Sunday October 9th.  I have set a donation target of £2620.00 - that's £100.00 for every mile I run. It's a massive target, but with your help we can achieve it, and together we can save the lives of countless children.

Thank you so much!!!
