Great Birmingham Run 2022 · 1 May 2022 ·
Hi and thank you for visiting my page!
I am raising money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and I’d be so grateful for your support. This charity is important to me as my Baba (Grandfather) suffers from high blood pressure. As he is of South Asian heritage, therefore according to NHS he is at greater risk of Stroke and blood circulatory diseases.
My Baba has always been a role model for me; In his younger years, he was very active, having played at a semi-professional level for football teams in Pakistan. I was heavily influenced by his lifestyle and subsequently developed an interest in sports from a very young age. This has been especially crucial to my mental health after my Son was diagnosed with Autism two years ago. I started Strength Training and Running as a form of “escape” but quickly found that through exercise, I have developed the resilience to face the challenges that come with raising a child on the spectrum. It’s only through what my Baba has taught me that I have become the person I am today, and I am dedicating this run to him!
Blood circulatory disorders are complex and anyone could be a victim of a heart attack or stroke. Since 1961 BHF has been raising money to research cures and treatments for circulatory disorders and keep the world free from the fear of heart attacks. In light of this, I will be running the Great Birmingham Marathon in Oct 2021 to fundraise for BHF and increase awareness surrounding the importance of exercise and utilizing it to relieve stress. As a research scientist, I encourage you to donate because the COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately cut the BHF’s research budget in half.
Every penny helps so, please give what you can, and let's do our bit to combat Heartache.
Thanks!
