Archaeological excavations at Amarna have produced a remarkable collection of material for many different fields of study, from carved stone fragments and colourful faience, to pottery, organic materials and human remains. Visiting scholars and students have benefited from it over the years and added their own information to the records of how people lived and died at the ancient city of Akhetaten.

The Amarna Project (University of Cambridge), in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, is now looking to expand and improve storage facilities for this unique collection, through the construction of an extension to the existing on-site storage magazine. The extension will be built by a contractor agreed to by the Ministry.

The total cost is estimated to be LE 300,000, equivalent to £14,500 (16,000€). As we rely mostly on donations, we are asking you for your support. Each donation helps, no matter how small. In appreciation of gifts of £50/50€ or greater, we will inscribe supporters' names on a plaque affixed inside the magazine. Donors' names will be seen by archaeologists for years to come. If you are a UK tax payer, please consider adding Gift Aid to your donation.
