South Coast Challenge 2019 · 31 August 2019 to 1 September 2019 ·
I may not have finished at 100km but I did manage to get to 56km which was a whole lot further than I thought I'd ever get! The seven sisters were from 11km and killed my hips off by the 5th sister, they were the hardest thing I have ever done but what a thing to do! I walked from Eastbourne to Hove, I started at 9am and finished at 12:05am, a total of 15 hours straight. I had one rest at 23km with only grabbing snacks and drinks at the other 2, I inhaled ALOT of sweets!
I am taking part in the Southcoast Challenge which is a 100km trek from Eastbourne to Arundel to raise money for Alzehimers. At the end of the 100k I also would of climbed 2170m.
This is completely out of my comfort zone and the training I have been doing is very alien to me! I train once a week with Strive And Succeed UK (personal trainer), attend Boxfit once a week and then either gym or swim. Every other Sunday I push myself to walk miles in order to get ready!
In 2017 I lost a huge part of my life to this horrible disease, my hero, my Bamps (grandad). To watch someone you love be affected by something like dementia is the most heartbreaking thing. No matter how often you see or speak to them, they still end up forgetting you and other loved ones around them. If you know me then you will know how unfit I am and how much I hate the outdoors so to take on this challenge, on my own, it is a big step for me but I have never felt so determind to accomplish something so big!
Please don't let me do this for nothing, any donation no matter how big or small will count and mean so much to me and to others!
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
