When I first crossed Maggie’s threshold in June 2018, shortly after my surgery and just days before my first chemotherapy infusion, I found a homely atmosphere full of people ready to help me pick up the pieces of my broken body and a head full of fears. They offered me a second home in which to start hoping again and enjoy the process. They made me believe that I could be active in writing a story very different to my Mum’s, who had lost her battle to ovarian cancer just 4 years and a half before my diagnosis.
All Maggie’s and her people have helped me do ever since has made me grow more courageous in the presence of adversity. One of their mottos is “.....what matters is not to lose the joy of living in the fear of dying” and, true to word, they keep sustaining my hope and trust to this day. As they do for many other cancer patients who visit their centres on a regular basis.
Please help me raise money for Maggie's so that they can provide free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer.
