Story
After receiving some training advice, I am now starting to realise what I have let myself in for.. I cannot imagine what it will feel like to get back on the bike again on Day 2 after being in the saddle for over 5 hours the day before?! Ibiza is very hilly - ouch! Good motivation for training though..
IBIZA.
Well... that word usually conjures up the image of sunshine, sea, cocktails on the beach, getting dressed up and dancing the night away with friends...
But not this time!
The next time I will be hitting the White Isle, I will be donning my trainers, a cycle helmet, padded cycling shorts (attractive) with the determination to cycle 150km around the whole island. The event is taking place on the 5th and 6th of May this year.
I am doing this in aid of an amazing cause, for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. The hospital has relied on charitable support since it first opened and the sponsorship I generate will go towards the HAIRraising appeal to help raise £1 million towards two new operating theatres at the hospital. So far, they have raised a whopping £700,000 but they still have a way to go. My personal fundraising target is £1,000 but I am aiming to raise more if possible.
You can log on to http://www.gosh.org/gen/ for more information about the charity or http://www.gosh.org/hairraising to read more about the HAIRraising appeal and what's happening at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
As you can imagine, I am in training to be fit enough to complete this physically demanding challenge in order to raise as much as I can for this crucial and valuable charity. So if you hear me order a non-alcoholic drink at the bar over the next couple of months, don't faint, this is the reason why.
So... the question is, how much will you bet me to complete this challenge? I know that fundraising emails go round regularly, so please don't feel obliged to donate. But if you can and would like to, every penny will count and I would be massively grateful on behalf of the charity.
One last thing, I am not an experienced cyclist by any means, so if anyone has any helpful cycling tips or can suggest some good routes (London based), let me know.
Thank you for your support,
Amy xx
