Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2023 · 14 May 2023 ·

MND research is at a point where life-saving treatments are potentially on the horizon. And Sheffield is more than ready to be a frontrunner to find the answers. By fundraising, you'll improve the lives of patients long into the future.

Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. This year I will be taking on the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon - on Sunday 14th May - to support Motor Neurone Disease research at the University of Sheffield. It is my biggest running challenge so far!

MND is a terminal condition. It affects the brain and nerves and is nearly always fatal. In the UK alone, 1 in every 300 people in the UK will develop MND in their lifetime. But there's hope. The University of Sheffield has world leading MND researchers working tirelessly to find a cure for this debilitating disease.

My PhD, and now my post doc, have been focused on research into potential therapeutics for MND. Through my research I have had the pleasure of meeting patients with MND, which has inspired me to continue my research and start fundraising for this disease.

I am a lockdown runner. I started running in March 2020 in the first ever lock down. Since then I have really enjoyed running and regularly run 5km three times a week and go to park run! I have also suffered a few injuries so I am hoping my training will go smoothly this time. Taking on a marathon is by far the biggest challenge I have ever done.

Any donations are appreciated to help reach my fundraising goal! By making a gift today you will make a much needed breakthrough in MND come even sooner. And you'll improve the lives of MND patients long into the future.
