Amy's Skydive for Parkinson’s page

Skydive for Parkinson’s · 18 August 2023
I am partaking in a skydive on 19th august 2023 in order to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s disease.
In 2016 my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Initially I didn’t know much about the disease except for one of the side effects being shakes/tremors. I have since witnessed the side effects progress first hand; from the loss of taste/smell, impaired coordination and balance, memory loss and mental health struggles such as depression and anxiety. However these are a very small handful of side effects that come with Parkinson’s. Currently there’s only limited treatments and no cure whilst being the fastest growing neurodegenerative condition in the world with 145,000 people in the uk currently suffering with the condition.
I am terrified of heights and struggle to look out of the window on a plane, let alone jump out of one. However i am excited to be raising awareness for a disease that is close to mine and my families hearts and make my dad proud.
I will be hosting a quiz night in the ship Warrenpoint on 7th July!
Thank you for taking the time to read my just giving page, any support is much appreciated!
