Story
An ectopic pregnancy is when a pregnancy grows outside of the womb. The baby can never be saved, and it is the leading cause of maternal death in the first trimester. Early diagnosis improves treatment choice, and protects fertility.
After going through this experience in May 2012 (Amy), I found that this condition is rarely heard of, until it happens. I had no idea my sharp stomach pains, leg and shoulder pain, would turn out to be a life threatening condition. It was a shock to hear that you have an ectopic pregnancy, 9-11 weeks developed, to then go for emergency surgery and afterwards be told it had ruptured causing internal bleeding. A very scary experience which could have been worse.
Finding support and comfort from The Ectopic Pregnancy Trusts website that you are not alone, and 1in 80 women go through this, all with different stories, but the same feelings.
If people knew the signs to look out for then diagnosis and treatment can be given, the sooner the better.
Here are some of the symptoms to look out for;
-abdominal pain
-unusual bleeding
-shoulder tip pain
-bowel/bladder problems
-missed/late period
-pregnancy test positive
-collapse
-nausea

If you can help by donating what you can, it will go towards helping women get through this scary and emotional experience.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and donate
