Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am once again running in sponsorship for the Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice. Many of you will recall I first ran in sponsorship of the hospice in the London Marathon 2016 this was off the back of me making a promise to my cousin Charlotte that I would run the marathon in sponsorship of the hospice in memory of her late husband (Andy Corrigan), Andy was a young firefighter that unfortunately lost his 3rd battle with cancer at the age of 27. Andys passing was a huge loss to his wife Charlotte, son Billy along with his parents, family and friends. The hospice helped and supported my cousin Charlotte and Andy's family during this tough time along with keeping Andy as comfortable as he could be.

I never got a place from my original application into the Marathon so when I received a call at the end of January 2016 from the hospice asking if I would still be willing to run in the Marathon for the hospice as they wee granted an extra 2  places, I jumped at the chance albeit I had not been training or even running at all since running the 5K Colour run where this all started where I made this promise to my cousin. This  was also an even bigger risk for me as I hadn't been involved with anything this strenuous since 2009 where I had a serious knee injury playing football leading to me not being able to play again. I managed to complete the Marathon in 5 hours15 minutes, Yes I completed it though I would have preferred a shorter time but considering I only had 10 weeks to train, I couldn't complain about this. I have applied every year since to run the marathon, but have not been successful in getting a place. In 2017 I ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon in sponsorship of the Hospice. Shortly after this we found out baby number 3 was on its way so family life came first and this stopped me planning any future runs/events. Moving on to 2019 and I felt it was time to get back into the swing of running and look for future events to raise money for the hospice, I missed out on my application through LLDM 2020 but fortunately managed to get a space again with the hospice. I am already training sticking to regular small runs consistently but from the start of January my training will be stepping up, I have a target in my mind bettering my previous half marathon time of 1 hour 54 minutes

I would be grateful for any donations to the Greenwich and Bexley Hospice and thankyou from the bottom of my heart for your support.
