Leading the way to a better quality of life for everyone severely affected by mental illness.

Story

"Your illness does not define you. Your strength and courage does"

In completing the Edinburgh marathon, my main aim is to raise awareness for mental health and hopefully encourage people to talk and expel the stigma that can sometimes be attached to mental illness.

Mental health is something which has affected my life personally over the last few years, facing daily challenges and learning how to live and cope with someone who has been directly affected by this.
My girlfriend has been suffering from depression and anxiety for about 4 years now, and although you would never know just by looking at her,she faces mental health challenges everyday. Things, which to one person does not seem like much, can cause her great deals of anxiety and concern. Despite having gone through this, being able to talk about it has made her a stronger person, as well as myself.

Both myself and Jack have decided to take up this challenge after our close knit group of friends was rocked by some very tragic news. News that means we will never get to share a pint with a good friend again.

Although mental health is not a physical injury or disability, it is still an illness and one which needs to be discussed. Hopefully by running this marathon and collecting sponsors, I will be able to help spread awareness for mental health issues.

Every step of the 26.2 miles and every penny I raise is dedicated to those suffering and those who have suffered, particularly those closest to my heart.
