Story

On Yer Bike For Brain Tumours

The diagnosis of a Brain Tumour is devastating for all involved, patient, partners parents, siblings, friends and loved ones. Whether benign or malignant these patients and their carers live with a ticking time bomb. Brain Tumours may also affect mood, memory, personality, independence, ability to work or drive.

Some stark statistics;

16,000 people each year in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of UK children

More people under 40 die of a brain tumour than from any other cancer

Only 12% of males diagnosed with a brain tumour and 15% of females survive beyond 5 years (compared with 50% for all cancers)

25% of all cancers spread to the brain

Yet Brain Tumour research remains woefully underfunded and the five year survival rate remains unchanged for the past 30 years.

Saturday 4 February 2012 will see individuals and teams keep the pedals turning over 12 hours of indoor cycling classes at The Pilates Studio in Glossop in order to raise much needed funds and awareness.

Please give as much as you can to help patients and their loved ones find the words they are dying to hear, “there is a cure, everything will be alright.”
