2010 Great North Swim · 4 September 2010 ·

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

"My name is Andy Insley, I needed to lose weight,

So I gave up on the smoking, and joined the gym - oh great!

I needed motivation to keep going frequently,

I saw the Great Swim advertised and thought that's the one for me!

So now I've picked my challenge and I have to swim a mile,

I'll be doing it in Manchester, with finesse and grace and style,

I've bought myself a wetsuit that gets stuck around my knees,

I'm doing this for charity so fill this form in, please?!?

It's for the Childrens Hospital, over here in Brum,

So give me all your money or I'll go and tell my mum!!!"

On a serious note this is for Birmingham Children's Hospital, any donations, large or small, would be welcome.  For those of you that know me you'll understand what a challenge it has been for me to get fit......and slink into a wetsuit!
