Story
After being diagnosed with cancer Andy had part of his lung removed in 2013. Being the fighter he was, all avenues were explored in an effort to prevent this terrible disease returning, but unfortunately he suffered a recurrence in early 2016 and sadly the prognosis was poor. While Andy underwent chemotherapy, we as a family attended to him around the clock, but despite our best efforts we lacked the medical knowledge required and sought to get the best help possible for him. We were put in contact with Foyle Hospice in Derry at this time and thankfully they were able to admit him.
We will never be able to adequately express our gratitude for the care that was given by the Hospice to Andy during the last of his chemotherapy and right up until his passing. We wish to raise awareness of what truly essential services the staff at Foyle Hospice provide. As we continue the fight against cancer, unfortunately it is all too likely that loved ones from many families will still require such care. The humanity and dignity with which patients in the care of Foyle Hospice are treated offers a ray of light during this dark time. We trust that you will recognise the value of the vital services they provide and hope that you will make a donation to this most worthy cause.
