Story
I am taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon for Care for Kids North Devon in order to raise funds to help support North Devon families going through the unimaginable challenges of having a child with a life threatening illness or condition.
Through my first hand experience from when my younger brother had leukaemia, I witnessed the impacts of my brother’s illness upon my family - the daily worrying of my brother’s fragile health, the side effects of treatment and having to maintain a positive outlook on focusing to ensure my brother’s health improved and for him to be well again. The rippling affects of my brother’s illness resulted in financial worries with the incurred costs of fuel, accommodation and food whilst being away from home for long periods of time as well as continuing to pay household bills and ensuring a balance of normality was shared with the family at home.
My family’s experience was one of the reasons behind the founding of Care for Kids North Devon and formed the primary objective of the charity of financially helping North Devon families who are facing similar challenges with a child with a life threatening illness or condition.
The funds I’m raising make a huge difference to families in North Devon which will assist with alleviating the financial worries in order to enable families to focus on caring for their child and supporting their family.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated in providing raising critical funds to support families in need.
