Von Juli bis September 2011 werde ich als Projektarbeiter für Kenya Education Partnerships (www.kep.org.uk) an einer Schule in der Kisii- oder Kakamegaregion in Kenia arbeiten.

 

Was werde ich in Kenia machen? Vieles! Durch 20 Jahren Erfahrung in der Region hat KEP ein umfassendes Programm entwickelt: Schulbücher, Laborausstattung, Sport- oder Gesundheitsveranstaltungen - das, was die Schule am meisten benötigt. Jede Schule hat ihre eigenen Anforderungen. Als Projektarbeiter werde ich persönlich herausfinden, was diese Anforderungen sind und so Ihre Spenden verlässlich und effektiv anwenden!

 

Warum ist es wichtig? Bildung ist der wichtigste Baustein für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung in einem Land wie Kenia! Als Projektarbeiter entwickeln wir vor Ort einen Plan, der auf die Nöte der Schule zugeschnitten ist, und setzen ihn um. Aber auch nachdem wir die Schule verlassen, betreut KEP sie bis zu fünf Jahre, um eine langfristige, positive Entwicklung zu unterstützen.

From July to September 2011, I will be working as a project worker for Kenya Education Partnerships in a secondary school in the Kisii or Kakamega region in Kenya.

 

What will I be doing in Kenya? A lot of things! With 20 years of experience in the region, KEP has developed a holistic programme: textbooks, lab equipment, sport and higher education events - basically, whatever the school needs most. Every school has its own needs. I will be able to see for myself what those needs are and put the money I fundraise to the best use possible!

 

Why is it important? Education is the most important element of sustainable development for a country like Kenya! As project workers, my partner and I will work out the best ways to invest our resources, tailor them to the school's needs and then implement them. Even after I leave, KEP will stay with the school for up to five years to ensure a continuous positive development.
