On the 27th of February, I am going to TRY and complete the Gaucho Derby through Patagonia. It is a 500 mile horse race where I have to be fully self sufficient, map read and stay alive. I am worried about a) the chafe b) the cold and c) falling in love with a dishy Argentine. I am raising money for two charities, Place2Be and the Tristan Voorspuy Conservation Trust (the TVCT will donate a percentage of my fundraising to Place2Be which is why you can't see it on this page). Place2Be is a charity that improves mental health in schools. From my experience as a teacher it is life changing. The pandemic and social media has had a hugely detrimental effect on childrens mental health, particularly in poorer communities. Place2Be provides one to one councilling for children in schools. I have seen children benefit hugely from having someone to talk to especially as they have often never opened up to anyone. The TVCT is a trust which donates money to a wide range of already established charities that together, aim to help animals and humans coexist in Africa to preserve the threatened ecosystems and reduce the current pressure on the land.
