Story

Thank you for visiting our page!

In a moment of madness us three thought we were the fittest people in the world and signed up to walk from London to Brighton! Walking sounds easy sure, but just imagine walking for well over 24 hours straight! It will be 27-28th May 2017, you will be spending your weekend, probably having a lie in, going out for brunch, a big night out maybe. And then, just think, when you're waking up on Sunday morning, feeling cosy and lazy, we will STILL be walking!

It's going to be a long tough walk, but we're up for the challenge! We will start training very soon (much needed!!), and will try and share pictures and stories where we can. But enough about us! We are doing all of this for more than the spotlight (ha!). We will be walking to support Dementia UK; an amazing charity who work to support families to live more positively with Dementia with the support of their local admiral nurses.

Emma Humphreys decided to do this walk for DementiaUK because her friends work with Home Instead which provides care to people living with dementia. Emma H, Emma B and Anna are going to be raising awareness and fund raising for DementiaUK for the next few months.

At Home Instead Westminster (www.homeinstead.co.uk/westminsterandcityoflondon), Anna Duncan and Emma Blount work together with a number of different organisations in London to provide the best possible support. Dementia UK are providing crucial care to people in the local area with their unique Admiral nurses on-hand to provide specialist Dementia advice and support. We want to work towards helping them to have more funding available to have more Admiral nurses in London to make sure families living with Dementia get the support they deserve.

Dementia UK provide a helpline service giving emotional and practical advice, and their local nurses are supported by a local host organisation, allowing individuals to more easily contact a nurse in their area. Their Admiral nurses provide compassionate support and guidance bringing confidence and reassurance to families living with Dementia.
