Due to a change in family circumstances, I am moving on to a new job which will allow greater flexibility for home and work life balance. After 11 years working at Hartley Corner/ Oakley Health, I have met and cared for a wonderful group of patients and worked with so many super colleagues. If you wish to give a leaving present, rather than chocolates, wine or other sinful delights (!!), I would be very grateful for any donation to The Reverse Rett charity.

Rett Syndrome is a post natal neurological disorder, which most often affects little girls, around the age of 12-18 months. It is estimated to affect 1 in 10,000 live female births. Most people with Rett Syndrome are unable to speak, walk or use their hands. Breathing problems, feeding tubes, seizures, anxiety, gastrointestinal and orthopaedic issues are all common. Rsearch shows that people with Rett Syndrome do not have brain damage, so this means children are locked in,trapped by a body that cannot obey signals from their brain. 

Reverse Rett charity is helping to fund pioneering research into gene therapy where the genetic mutation can be switched off and hence provide a cure for this devastating syndrome. The charity also provides hope and support for the families that are affected by Rett Syndrome. 

My beautiful Goddaughter Lottie is living with Rett Syndrome. 

I have been so fortunate to meet and work with so many patients and colleagues during my time at Oakley Health. It would mean so much to me to help give Lottie hope for her future by supporting the incredible work that Reverse Rett is doing.
