12 Acts of Kindness: April · 30 April 2016

The Williams Syndrome Foundation was formed in 1980 and is run by parents for parents of children with this rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties. It desperately needs funds to finance its ambitious research and family support programmes which include national conventions and regional meetings.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. This month I am raising money for the Williams Syndrome Foundation as a part of 12 Acts of Kindness, in honour of my long-time friend Andy.

12 Acts of Kindness

12 Acts of Kindness is a project that runs throughout 2016. Each month I select a different charity to support, and in exchange for your generous donations, I draw a winner from the donations to win an original art work. You can see some examples of my art work at www.annamasters.com

Williams Syndrome Foundation

This month's chosen charity is the Williams Syndrome Foundation, who do wonderful work funding research into the Syndrome and supporting people with the rare condition. Williams Syndrome affects around 1 in 25,000 people, and one of those people is my friend Andy. If you're local to Sevenoaks, you'll almost certainly have met him - he's somewhat of a local personality, often sociably touring the local bars and cafés. He's one of the kindest, smiliest and friendliest people I've had the pleasure of knowing. He like cats and classic cars. But the condition causes both physical problems and affects brain development. The Foundation provides a wealth of support to families with children with the syndrome, as well as information for carers, teachers and professionals working with people with Williams Syndrome. Moreover, they support research into the educational, physical, social and medical aspects of the condition. It's important work that means a huge amount to the families affected by this condition.

Taking part

If you're new to 12 Acts of Kindness, here's how it works:

  • For each £2 donated, you will be entered once into a draw to win an art work – so donate £10 and you’ll get five entries.
  • At the end of the month, I’ll draw a name and get in touch with the winner to arrange delivery.
  • And on my part, I will ensure that the art work you win will be of greater value than the total value of the amount donated. So if we raise £500, the art work on offer will be of a value of over £500.
  • Please make sure that you share your email address when you donate so that I can get in touch with you if you win!
