London to Ghana by 1924 Vauxley

This year's plan is to drive a 1924 car from London to Ghana - about 5,000 miles, via some of the most evocative place names in the world; Casablanca and Marrakesh in Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Timbuktu in Mali and Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, to finish in Ghana, (previously known as the Gold Coast). The final route details are still to be confirmed, being partly determined by the feasibility of crossing Mauritania (currently the Foreign Office advise against this).
I will be doing this trip with Paul Rogers, in his 1924 Vauxhall, affectionately known as Vauxley because it has a Bentley gearbox and front axle. This car has a one gallon, four cylinder engine and little protection from the weather.
In Ghana we will be visiting projects run by Sabre Charitable Trust - a micro-charity working with Education Authorities and rural communites to enhance education provision in Ghana (see www.sabretrust.org for more information on their work). The aim of the trip is to raise enough money to build a new school.
