Story
I have decided to do the Great North Run, in honour of my little sister Carys and in memory of my little brother Aaron (two amazing cystic fibrosis fighters), to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which affects the lungs, digestive system and other organ systems. It affects more than 10,600 people in the UK, but about 1 in 25 of the population carry the faulty gene that causes the condition. CF can cause chronic infections and affect lung function. Some patients have lung function so severely affected that they require lung transplants and currently only half of those with CF will not live past age 41
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust does amazing work, including research into CF and its treatments, providing peer support for patients, financial aid, campaigning for life saving medications to be funded by the NHS, as well as creating resources for health care professionals. Patients with cystic fibrosis live better and longer lives as a result of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the research and work that they do.
This cause is incredibly close to my heart and so I would be so grateful if you could donate anything at all. Many charities this year have missed out on fundraising opportunities because of COVID so any donation will be really appreciated!
